Last Minute Things To Do Before You Walk Down The Aisle

Here at The CB Wedding Manual, it is our business to try to provide professional wedding planner advice to help your wedding day go as smoothly and be as fun as possible. After spending hours getting ready for the big event, you may be a little frazzled, and you don’t want to overlook last minute tasks! Here are some final things to check before you walk down the aisle.

Remember to take a bathroom break! You may have been feeling so stressed trying to check every detail, that you missed your body’s signals. You don’t want to be distracted or uncomfortable as you exchange vows, so take a minute to be sure you’re comfortable. If you need a quick bite so you don’t get lightheaded, now is the time!

If you’ve been taking pre-ceremony photos, you’ll want to do a final checkup on your hair and makeup. Your makeup may be smeared, lipstick may need a touch up, and stray hairs may need to be put back in place and sprayed. If it’s warm, a dusting of powder should hide any sweat. If you have a professional doing hair and makeup for you, ask them for a quick touch up.

One new tradition is purchasing a fragrance solely for your wedding day, and for special occasions thereafter. If you are wearing a special scent for your big day, refresh your perfume before the ceremony. If it’s very hot or windy, you may want to apply a bit more. With a particular fragrance selected just for your wedding day, that will bring back many happy memories when you wear it for future anniversaries or special events.

Grab a tissue in case you end up crying during the ceremony. After all of the preparation and work on your makeup, you don’t want your mascara running for those first look photographs! Also useful for blotting perspiration or wiping off smeared lipstick after the big kiss, grab a second one for your spouse in case they need a tissue as well.

Be sure to stay hydrated. Particularly if you will be drinking alcohol at the reception, you need enough water to keep you safe from dehydration for the entire day. If it’s very warm, you’ll need to ensure there is plenty of water available for guests as well. Take a quick swig before you walk down the aisle to be sure you don’t suffer from dry mouth, or have trouble speaking your vows.

Make sure your bouquet is properly positioned with the stems angled toward you and the blooms facing away from you. The guests and photographer(s) will see the flowers as opposed to stems, and the bouquet won’t be dangling awkwardly for photos. Check to see that there are no broken blossoms and that the bouquet isn’t coming apart.

Lastly, find the person walking you down the aisle, lock arms with them, put on your happiest smile, and watch for the look on your spouse’s face as you both start your new life together!
